Description
As a young girl, my daughter Stephanie loved horses, and riding them was her greatest joy. Since I had been a stable groom as a boy and dreamed of becoming a horse trainer, I could understand her passion.
One summer, Stephanie attended equitation camp at Sewanee, Tennessee. When I visited to watch what she had learned, I was attracted to a wall in the barn’s tack room. The colorful array of jump-seat hats, halters, and lead ropes – all smelling of leather and sweat – took me back to my own happy memories of times spent with horses.
